"You Ain't Nothin' But A Pound Dog"

Last year over 100,000 adoptable animals were needlessly  euthanized in the metro Atlanta area. Georgia SPCA mission is to reduce the umber by implementing successful adoption programs, offering low cost spay/neuter to the public, and by promoting responsible pet ownership through the education of our community.

Georgia SPCA Dog of the Week: Meet Sugar

Georgia SPCA Dog of the Week: Meet Sugar

Sugar is a very sweet girl who is just a little shy at first. She is very calm and friendly and loves to go on walks. A slightly older dog like Sugar can be a great addition to a family and easily fit into the family routine. Come see Sugar at the shelter and see if she would be a good fit for your family. Our dog and puppy adoption fees are $250. That includes spay/neuter surgery, disease testing (dogs testing positive for heartworms are treated; however, we do not add that charge to our adoption fee), up to date vaccinations, deworming, up to date flea/tick & heartworm prevention, a 24Petwatch microchip and 30 days of ShelterCare pet insurance.

GA SPCA's mission is to reduce the number of healthy animals euthanized in GA by implementing a successful adoption program, spay/neuter program and by promoting responsible pet ownership.

Protect Your Kids and Pets from Summer Heat

Protect Your Kids and Pets from Summer Heat

Summer in the south is officially here! With rising temperatures, it is important to take steps to protect those around us who might be vulnerable to the heat, like our children and pets.

Did you know that we lose heat by sweating? Water literally evaporates into the atmosphere and sucks the heat out of our bodies. Children produce even more heat than adults. This is because they have more body surface for their height. Children are also closer to the ground – and to hot pavement. They can easily become dehydrated or overheated.

Here are some tips to keep your children and pets safe in the heat.

Georgia SPCA Pet Of The Week

Georgia SPCA Pet Of The Week

Tiana is the Pet of the Week!

Tiana is a loving two month old Jack Russell Terrier Mix

Hi, I'm Tiana and I'm here at the shelter waiting for my forever home. My foster mom says I am a sweet loving little girl. When you pet me I feel more like a kitten than a puppy I have such silky soft hair. I love to cuddle in a little ball and quietly lay on my foster mom's lap. I am smaller than my siblings but I am not shy and I don't let them boss me around. I like to be pampered with hugs and kisses and will be a loyal companion. Come see me at the shelter.
