DeKalb Code Enforcement Task Force to Meet Oct. 7. Open to the Public

Atlanta, GA-- DeKalb County Code Enforcement Task Force will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 7 at the Lynwood Recreation Center located at 3360 Osborne Rd. in Atlanta.  The task force will identify and assist in the implementation of solution-driven recommendations to address code enforcement issues affecting communities throughout DeKalb.  

The task force, which includes community leaders, county officials, and other key individuals, will hold one more meeting in October that will be open to the public.

Suwanee Store Surprised of Selling a $200K Powerball Ticket on Sept. 8th

Atlanta, GA--  A Georgia Lottery retailer in Suwanee is surprised to have sold a winning $200,000 Powerball prize. Texaco Food Mart, located at 2161 Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road in Suwanee sold a winning Quik Pik ticket from the Sept. 8 Powerball drawing.

“It’s such a great thing,” exclaimed Neal Patel, store owner and manager.

The winner, a Lawrenceville resident, matched the first five winning numbers in the drawing. Winning numbers from the Sept. 8 Powerball drawing were: 10-35-39-51-57 and the Powerball was 20.

“I want people to know that players in Georgia do win,” Patel said. “People might view this win as good luck.”

As with all other Georgia Lottery games, proceeds from Powerball will benefit education in the state of Georgia.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned more than $11.9 billion to the state of Georgia for education.

Family of Eagle Scouts to be Honored by City Council

Atlanta, GA--  The City of Suwanee will honor the Bradham Family September 28 at their Council Meeting in Town Hall.  So many people have been inspired by this family of 6 Eagle Scouts as well as a Father and Grandfather Eagle Scout.  The City Council is going to declare that Wednesday, Sept. 29 2010 is "Bradham Eagle Scout Day" in the City of Suwanee.

In August 2010, all six of the the Brandham Family boys became Eagle Scouts when the last two (twins) were given the Eagle Scout award at a Court of Honor.  In addition the father and grandfather are also Eagle Scouts making a total of 8 in this Family.

The Bradham family of Suwanee are the Ultimate Eagle Scouts

Atlanta, GA--  The Bradham family has the unique distinction of having a complete family of Eagle Scouts. There are 6 boys in the family which have all enthusiastically gone through the necessary steps to attain the elite honor of Eagle Scout.  According to the father, they were never pushed into service but fell into it.  Though, it is not hard to imagine why, due to the tradition of service that has been in their family for more than 80 years.

Both the father of 6, and their 84 year old grandfather are both accomplished Eagle Scouts as well, which means this Suwanee family has a record of service spanning more than 1 generation.  The youngest sons Spencer and Trevor, who are both sophomores at Gwinnett High, spent the last year contributing over 300 hours each to community service projects throughout Georgia.

The boys' scout leader is quoted as saying, "Ultimately it's about honesty, integrity and service.
