County Receives Two Donations

County Receives Two Donations

LAWRENCEVILLE – Commissioners today accepted donations from two organizations, one that will help with transportation needs for seniors and persons with disabilities and another that brings an interactive learning exhibit to Gwinnett County.

The Friends of Gwinnett Senior Services donated $39,371 to be used for the Transportation Voucher Program in Gwinnett. Recently, federal funds were granted from the New Freedom Act to support a limited number of seniors and persons with disabilities with vouchers to support the cost of transportation for essential trips with priority given to medical appointments and medical procedures.

Public transportation, including paratransit, is limited to certain corridors in the county and cannot meet the transportation needs for all those who need special transportation.
