Gwinnett abuzz for Honeybee Festival

BUFORD, Ga. -- The Gwinnett Environmental and Heritage Center (GEHC) is gearing up for its third annual celebration of one of the most important creatures in food production: the honeybee.

The Honeybee Festival will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 15.

It will feature numerous activities for everyone in the family to enjoy, including games, crafts, cooking demonstrations and, of course, honey samples. Beekeepers will be on hand to discuss what it takes to handle a hive.

The festival will also have a children's parade and costume contest, which will begin at 2 p.m.

"The GEHC staff always looks forward to this event. It is a great opportunity to enjoy time as a family and learn about one of our favorite and most valuable insects," GEHC programming and development director Jason West said in a statement.
