The Atlanta Opera @ the Decatur Book Festival

The Atlanta Opera has commissioned a one-hour children’s opera called Rabbit Tales, based on the famed Br’er Rabbit stories, popularized by Joel Chandler Harris. The AJC Decatur Book Festival will host a special presentation called “From the Briar Patch to the Big Stage: Adapting Br’er Rabbit for Opera,” in which composer, Nicole Chamberlain; librettist, Madeleine St. Romain; director, Park Cofield; and Executive Director of The Wren’s Nest, Lain Shakespeare will discuss its development and creation. There also will be singers giving a sneak peak of some of the arias!

Stage Play Confronting Issues In The Church; Addiction

Never has a stage play addressed issues facing church members like ADDICTION: No One Knows but Me. "I want to bring to the forefront issues that confront church members everyday-issues that nobody wants to talk about but know are there" says Andre Knighton play wright and producer.

Andre believes it is time for the church to take off its mask and do away with being pretentious."We all know the catch phrases, ' I'm blessed and highly favored,' and 'Too blessed to be stressed' but most of that is a facade and the real issues are not being addressed," says Knighton. He believes that having that kind of attitude makes a person feel alone and or isolated as if they are the only person struggling with a particular issue.

"We need to be real and understand that everybody struggles; Knighton passionately expressed. It does not make you any less spiritual. It makes you human.

ATLANTA – As the summer wraps up students and parents are thinking of ways to enjoy their summer “to the last drop”. During the summer, many communities hosted free movie viewing at public parks. The screenings are designed to encourage family bonding time and fellowship.

People say watching movies in the park or under the stars is relaxing.
