Atlanta, GA--  A Georgia Lottery retailer in Suwanee is surprised to have sold a winning $200,000 Powerball prize. Texaco Food Mart, located at 2161 Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road in Suwanee sold a winning Quik Pik ticket from the Sept. 8 Powerball drawing.

“It’s such a great thing,” exclaimed Neal Patel, store owner and manager.

The winner, a Lawrenceville resident, matched the first five winning numbers in the drawing. Winning numbers from the Sept. 8 Powerball drawing were: 10-35-39-51-57 and the Powerball was 20.

“I want people to know that players in Georgia do win,” Patel said. “People might view this win as good luck.”

As with all other Georgia Lottery games, proceeds from Powerball will benefit education in the state of Georgia.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned more than $11.9 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.25 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
