Rabid fox found in Forsyth County

FORSYTH COUNTY, Ga. -- Animal control crews with the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office and the Georgia Department of Animal Resources said they confirmed that a fox they found did have rabies.

Officers responded to an area off of Pilgrim Mill Road in Northeast Forsyth County after receiving reports of a fox acting suspiciously.

After investigating, the crews were able to determine that two individuals had been bitten by the fox. The two received treatment at Northside Forsyth Hospital and released.

Crews searching the area found the fox and put it down. After further testing, they were able to confirm that the fox had rabies.

No other injuries were reported.
