Submit your photos to Suwanee's Winter Photo Competition

Submit your photos to Suwanee's Winter Photo Competition

Suwanee - Great photo opportunities abound in Suwanee. The Atlanta freeze that struck in January, a flash mob at Suwanee Day, and the unveiling of the World Trade Center artifact are but a few photo-worthy events from this past year. Then of course, there's your adorable children, sunsets, and park play dates, which always make for terrific photos.

The City of Suwanee wants you to share your best photos with the community through the annual Snap Suwanee photo competition. Photographs should have been taken within the City limits of Suwanee, preferably within the past two years. A dozen or more of the submitted photos will be selected as winners and displayed at City Hall for approximately one year beginning in March.

Donate heaters to keep Gwinnett’s seniors warm this winter

Electric portable heaters (UL tested) are needed to help keep Gwinnett seniors warm this winter. This is the third year that Gwinnett County Senior Services (GCSS), in partnership with its local nonprofit, Friends of Gwinnett County Senior Services (Friends), and the Gwinnett County Department of Fire and Emergency Services are working together to provide heating assistance to senior citizens through Project AWARE (Added Warmth Assistance for Residences of our Elderly).

Gwinnett County fire stations will be accepting brand new portable electric heaters now through February 28, 2012. The heaters will be collected from the stations and personally delivered to seniors in need. A smoke detector and information on fire safety will also be included along with the heaters.

children or one of our families, please call us for a wish list.  Every week, we see children whose shoes are

too small for their feet, whose legs have outgrown their Levi’s, or who greedily devour our snack supply

because they don’t have enough to eat at home.

These families need our help providing clothing—winter jackets, blue jeans, sweaters, and pajamas as well as

Gwinnett County Fire and EMS to hold graduation ceremony

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – On Thursday, November 17 the Gwinnett County Department of Fire and Emergency Services will graduate their sixteenth Citizens Fire Academy. The ceremony will be held at the Gwinnett County Department of Fire and Emergency Services Headquarters at 6:00 p.m.

According to Gwinnett County, “the Citizen Fire Academy is a 12-week program that allows citizens of Gwinnett County to learn about and experience the fire department first-hand.
