9-year-old named finalist in Doodle 4 Google contest

SUWANEE, Ga. -- A student at Shakerag Elementary School in Johns Creek is one of 10 finalists in this year's Doodle 4 Google contest.

Nine-year-old Anoushka M. of Suwanee learned she is the Georgia winner of the national contest during a surprise assembly at her school Wednesday morning.

This year's Doodle 4 Google theme is "If I could travel in time, I'd visit ..." Anoushka's doodle, pictued above, features a Vincent van Gogh theme, including a portrait of the artist and a background inspired by what is arguably his most famous work -- Starry Night.

Anoushka will now compete against finalists from Arizona, Hawaii, Illinois, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Nevada, Oklahoma, Utah and Wisconsin for the top prize, which includes a $30,000 college scholarship and a $50,000 technology grant for the winner's school.

You can help vote for Anoushka to win the contest. Voting is open through 8 p.m. EST on Thursday, May 10.
