Berry presents 'Letters to Sala'

Berry presents 'Letters to Sala'

ROME, Ga. -- The Berry College Theatre Company's production of Letters to Sala opens Thursday, Nov. 8.

The new play, written by Arlene Hutton, is based on a true story. It revolves around Sala Garncarz Kirschner and the 352 letters she collected during her time in concentration camps during World War II.

Berry junior Hannah Ausband, a music major from Suwanee, composed original music for the play.

"Letters to Sala is simply a story worth telling," she said. "I really enjoy using music to tell stories, so naturally I was excited and honored to have been given the opportunity to do so for this play. Ultimately, my main hope is that it will move people and cause them to question the realities in which we are living."

Berry assistant professor of history Matthew Stanard will host a talk-back after the play for audience members who wish to learn more about the play and the time period.
